Cultural notes

Suwa Taisha Shimosha Akimiya is closely tied to the mythology of the Suwa River, which was believed to have been created by the god Susanoo. The shrine's architecture reflects this connection, with its distinctive roof design and intricate wood carvings. During the autumn months, the shrine holds a festival to honor the spirit of the mountain, known as Aki Matsuri.
