Cultural notes
Suwa Shrine is famous for its association with the mythology of the Japanese goddess of fertility and childbirth, Ōkuninushi. The shrine is also connected to the legend of the Tōgakure no Jiten, a mythical forest said to be the dwelling place of the gods.
