御霊社

This shrine is dedicated to the vengeful spirits (goryō) of those who died unjustly or violently, serving as a place where these powerful souls are appeased and transformed into protective deities. As part of the goryō faith tradition that developed during the Heian period, it provides spiritual pacification for restless spirits while offering protection to the local community from natural disasters and misfortune. Worshippers visit to pray for protection from calamities, seek spiritual cleansing, and pay respects to the enshrined spirits who are believed to guard the region once properly honored.
