Cultural notes
Hakuro is the kami enshrined at this shrine. The shrine hosts an annual Hakuro Festival in August to celebrate the deity's role as a guardian of the island and its people. In addition, the shrine is famous for its 'Forest of Gold' garden, which features over 2,000 trees that have been adorned with golden lanterns during the festival.

The shrine was originally built in 1678 during the Edo period and has undergone several renovations since then.
