Ri no Miyajimatsushita Shrine, located in the town of Shiogama, Miyagi Prefecture, is dedicated to the god of the sea and protector of the town's inhabitants. Built in 1869, the shrine has undergone several renovations while maintaining its traditional architecture. Visitors can admire the shrine's wooden structure and ornate decorations, including a beautiful torii gate.

Cultural notes

Ri no Miyajimatsushita Shrine is connected to the legend of the ' Tsuki-mame' rice spirit, a Shinto deity believed to bring good fortune and prosperity. The shrine also hosts an annual autumn festival where visitors can participate in traditional dances and games.

Historical note

The shrine was rebuilt after being destroyed during the Boshin War.
