High Tail Shrine, located in the heart of Akita city, is a sacred site dedicated to the worship of the Shinto kami. Established in 1865 by Ōkubo Toshimichi, the shrine's primary deity is Sakigake-gami, a local spirit said to watch over travelers and fishermen. The shrine's unique architecture features a vermilion torii gate surrounded by a tranquil garden, while its interior is adorned with traditional wooden structures and colorful paper lanterns.
