Located in the heart of Hokkaido, Ryujinsha is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the legendary Dragon God (Ryujin) of the sea and fertility. The shrine's design reflects its coastal location, with a unique torii gate that resembles a ship's prow. Built in 1904, it has undergone renovations while maintaining its traditional architecture.

Built during the Meiji period, Ryujinsha was constructed to commemorate the opening of the port city of Hakodate in 1869.
