Located in the city of Akita, Akita Prefecture, Eightfold God Shrine is one of Japan's oldest Shinto shrines, dating back to the Nara period (710-794 CE). Dedicated to the Shinto god Susanoo-no-Mikoto, it is said that the shrine was originally built to honor the god who controlled the weather and storms. The shrine's architecture reflects its long history, with a traditional San-San-tai design featuring three large gates, five main halls, and numerous smaller shrines.
