Visitor tip

Cultural notes

Eight Horseshoe Shrine is closely associated with the legend of Fujita no Omiya, a local samurai who was said to have been granted good luck by the kami after receiving eight bows of protection. The shrine's primary deity is Okami no kami, the Shinto god of fertility and prosperity.

Historical note

The current shrine was rebuilt in 1661.
