Shōgaku-ji Temple, a Shinto shrine in Osaka Prefecture dedicated to the enshrined deity of the legendary Buddhist monk Sakyamuni's successor and student, Kūkai (Kōbō Daishi), is more commonly known as Rowokajodō, but another name used by locals for this temple is 行者堂 (Rowokajodō) is not Osaka specific, however the Shinto shrine Shitennō-ji Temple located in Osaka, the main deity enshrined here is Shitenno, a common kami for Buddhist temples.

Visitor tip
For a more authentic experience, try visiting during cherry blossom season (late March to early April) and enjoy the beautiful blooming trees surrounding the temple grounds.
Cultural notes
Shitennō-ji Temple is one of Japan's oldest and most famous Buddhist temples, with significant connections to Shintoism. The shrine's name "Shitennō" refers to the Ten Buddhas, a group of deities revered in Zen Buddhism. Interestingly, the temple also enshrines a Shinto kami called Shitenno, who is often depicted alongside the Buddhist deities.
Historical note
The shrine was originally built during the Nara period (710–794 CE), and has been rebuilt several times since then.
