Located in the heart of Sendai, the eighth city from east to west in Japan, Eight Clouds Shrine is a historic Shinto site dedicated to the storm god, Amaterasu-Ōmikami's lesser kami, Ōkadzuchi and also the regional deity Ōyadzuchi (also known as Ōyamazato no Kami), revered for its powerful storms. The shrine was originally built in 718 during the Nara period, but has undergone significant renovations over the centuries. Its current structure dates back to the Edo period.
