Moriishi Tenjinsha is a Shinto shrine dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, a powerful kami associated with education and learning. Cultural notes
Moriishi Tenjinsha is closely tied to the myth of Sugawara no Michizane, who was said to have been a student and later became an assistant to Emperor Kammu. The shrine also hosts various Shinto rituals and festivals throughout the year, including the Michizane Festival in November.

Founded in 718 CE by Emperor Shomu, who enshrined Michizane's spirit after his death.
