Cultural notes
According to local legend, Ko no Iwai no Miya is believed to be an ancestral shrine for the region's founding family, the Date clan. The shrine also hosts a spring festival, Hoshizuka Matsuri, which celebrates the arrival of spring with rituals and offerings to the kami.
