Located in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, the Akatsuki Sengen Taisha is one of Japan's oldest Shinto shrines. Founded in 718 CE during the Asuka period, it enshrines the god of learning and culture, Akatsuki no Okami, as well as other deities associated with education, literature, and the arts.

The Akatsuki Sengen Taisha is famous for its association with the development of Japanese literature and poetry. The shrine also hosts an annual literary festival, 'Sendai Bunka Matsuri', which celebrates the city's rich cultural heritage.
