Visitor tip
To avoid getting caught in a downpour, visit the shrine at dawn or late evening when the sun is low in the sky. The large torii gate will be partially shaded, providing some protection from the rain.
Cultural notes
Fūjin and Raijin are the kami associated with wind and lightning, respectively, and are believed to bring good fortune and protection to the city's residents. The shrine also features a museum showcasing traditional Japanese art and architecture, as well as a collection of samurai armor and artifacts.
