Cultural notes
As a prominent Shinto shrine, Shrine o Inari is closely tied to the mythology of Inari Okami, who was said to possess multiple fox spirits ( Kitsune) that brought him knowledge and wisdom. The shrine's forested area is also associated with a traditional festival called Aki Matsuri, which celebrates the harvest season with bonfires and fireworks.
Historical note
The shrine was originally founded during the Edo period (1603-1868) to honor Inari Okami, who played a significant role in Japanese agriculture.
