Visitor tip
To fully appreciate the shrine's beauty, visitors are advised to bring a camera and capture the stunning sunset views from the observation deck on the eastern side of the main hall.
Cultural notes
Maratadashi Shrine is connected to the Namahage folklore, which tells the story of a malevolent spirit that roams the forests during the winter months. To ward off this spirit, visitors can purchase and burn special offerings called 'yosegi' at the shrine.
