Located in the Akita Prefecture, the day goddess shrine of Hachiman and Oya no kami (north-hand god), North Village Shrine was originally called Old Village Shrine. The shrine is a well-preserved example of traditional Japanese architecture and houses several notable Shinto deities.

Cultural notes
The shrine's architecture is typical of the Shinto style found in the Tohoku region. Oya no kami is a powerful kami associated with fertility and prosperity. Hachiman, the god of war, is also enshrined here for protection. The shrine hosts an annual 'Matsuri' festival in July to honor these deities.
