Located in the city of Aoba, Miyagi Prefecture, 保食神社 is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the god of food and agriculture, known as Tsukiyomi-Okami. The shrine's primary kami is Tsukuyomi-no-Kami, the moon god and patron deity of rice cultivation.

Visitor tip
To avoid waiting in line, visit the shrine early in the morning or during its less busy hours, typically from April to October.
Cultural notes
Tsukuyomi-Okami is also associated with fertility and harvest. The shrine hosts an annual festival in June to celebrate the summer solstice and the bounty of the harvest.
