White Mountain Shrine, located in the city of Akita, is one of Japan's oldest and most revered Shinto shrines. Dating back to the 7th century, it is said to have been founded by Emperor Kinmei, who enshrined the powerful kami, Yakushi-Okami (God of Medicine) and Hachiman (God of War). The shrine's architecture reflects its rich history, with a wooden torii gate and a five-story pagoda built in 1810. The shrine complex features numerous shrines dedicated to various regional kami, including Akita's patron deity, Akita-Tsuchi-Kami.
