Tsushima Island Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in Tsushima Island, Yamaguchi Prefecture, not Yamagata. While the name may suggest a connection to Yamagata, I couldn't verify any historical or cultural ties between the two. The shrine was originally built on the island of Tsushima in 707 CE during the Asuka period. It is one of the oldest Shinto shrines in Japan and enshrines the deities Susanoo-no-Mikoto and Okuninushi no Kami, among others. Tsushima Island has a significant history as a strategic location for trade and cultural exchange between Japan and Korea.
