Tomidatemonsanjo Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in the town of Tsuruoka, Yamagata Prefecture. The shrine is dedicated to the deity of hot springs and fertility, Tomidate-tsu-no-kami, and is famous for its beautiful gardens and traditional architecture.

Visitor tip
Visitors can take a relaxing soak in one of the many natural hot springs found nearby, and enjoy stunning views of Mount Chokai from the shrine's gardens.
Cultural notes
The shrine is connected to the legend of Tomidate-tsu-no-kami, a Shinto deity said to reside at the bottom of the Yamagata Prefecture's largest hot spring. The shrine also hosts an annual summer festival in honor of the kami.

The shrine was built in 1600 during the Edo period, and has undergone several renovations over the years.
