Morebetsu Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in the city of Morebetsu, Hokkaido. The shrine was originally built in 1869 as a memorial to Emperor Meiji, but its origins date back to the Heian period. Morebetsu Shrine is famous for being one of the few Shinto shrines in Japan that still holds a New Year's Eve ritual called 'Hatsumode,' which is said to bring good luck for the rest of the year.
