Located in Akita Prefecture, White Dragon Shrine is dedicated to the Shinto god of wisdom and prosperity. The shrine's name is derived from the 'White Dragon' (, hakuchō), a mythical creature said to symbolize good fortune and longevity. According to local legend, the shrine was founded by a local daimyo (feudal lord) in the 16th century to honor his ancestors.
