Located in the town of Iwata in Shizuoka Prefecture, Juhaga-me no Shinsha is a historic Shinto shrine dedicated to the kami Inari Okami. The shrine's architecture reflects its location near the coast, with a traditional hippon (main hall) and several smaller buildings. Cultural notes
Inari Okami is often depicted with multiple fox tails, which symbolize abundance and fertility. At Juhaga-me no Shinsha, visitors can find many fox statues throughout the shrine grounds, as well as several shrines dedicated to other regional kami, including the goddess of rice and the god of prosperity.
Historical note
The shrine was built in 1557 during the Sengoku period and has been rebuilt and restored numerous times throughout its history.
