Cultural notes
Kakizuka Inari Taisha is famous for its thousands of vermilion lanterns that line the approach to the main shrine. According to legend, these lanterns were given by local residents as a symbol of gratitude to Inari Okami. During the annual New Year's festival (Oshogatsu), visitors can participate in a traditional ritual called 'Yuki-yu', where they write their wishes on sake cups and hang them from the torii gates.
