Visitor tip

To make a wish for good luck, tie a red string around the main torii gate's pillars and recite a prayer to Sanjigijin.

Cultural notes

Sanjigijinsha is believed to be one of the shrines that enshrined the regional kami known as 'Kuromuku-oki', a god associated with fertility and prosperity. The shrine also holds an annual 'Ume-zakura-matsuri' festival in spring, celebrating the blooming of cherry blossoms.

Historical note

The shrine was built during the Edo period (1603-1867), but its exact founding date is unknown.
