Located in Kanagawa Prefecture, the Sanbin-ta Ise Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the rice god Inari Okami. The shrine's main hall features a unique double-leaf vermilion torii gate, which symbolizes the balance between heaven and earth. Visitors can also explore the adjacent Hatafuta, a traditional Japanese garden featuring various plants and trees, including bonsai trees.

Visitor tip
To fully appreciate the shrine's architecture, visitors are advised to arrive at dawn or dusk when possible, as the golden light of sunrise and sunset highlights the vermilion torii gate.
Cultural notes
In addition to its main shrine, Sanbin-ta Ise Shrine is also known for its association with the legendary rice goddess, Hata-hime, who was said to have brought rice to Japan from China. The shrine hosts an annual autumn festival in honor of Inari Okami and Hata-hime.
Historical note
Founded in 1696 during the Edo period, Sanbin-ta Ise Shrine was rebuilt after being destroyed by fire in 1868.
