Visitor tip

Cultural notes
Fushimi Inari is closely associated with the myth of Matsubae no Kami, a rice spirit said to have been introduced from China. The shrine also hosts an annual New Year's festival (Oshogatsu) and a summer festival (Gasshoin), both significant events in local tradition.

The current shrine was rebuilt in 1673 during the Edo period, replacing an earlier structure that dated back to the Nara period.
