Cultural notes
Fudou-in Shrine is closely associated with the legend of Fudo Myo-o, a powerful and wise deity said to reside in a cave on the shrine grounds. According to myth, Fudo Myo-o appeared to the Emperor Shomu and granted him spiritual power.
