Cultural notes

Rokuroku-jinja is famous for its beautiful cherry blossom trees and vibrant autumn foliage. During spring festivals, visitors can participate in traditional dances to welcome Okuninushi's return from his winter shrine. The shrine also holds a New Year's festival (Omisoka) with lantern displays along the Biwa River.

Historical note

The shrine was originally built in 1641 by the Hikone-no-miya clan as a humble shrine to honor their ancestral god.
