Located in the heart of Kagawa Prefecture, Katsurahama Grand Shrine, also known as Shitennō-ji, is a prominent Shinto shrine dedicated to the gods Amaterasu Ōmikami and Susanoo-no-Mikoto. The shrine is famous for its beautiful garden and traditional architecture, which dates back to the Nara period (710-794 CE). The complex features five main shrines, each dedicated to one of the five virtues: justice, compassion, sincerity, benevolence, and righteousness.

Cultural notes
Katsurahama Grand Shrine is associated with the mythology of Susanoo-no-Mikoto, who is said to have brought the rice and fertility to Japan. The shrine also hosts a grand festival in honor of Susanoo, known as Susanoo no Matsuri, which takes place on July 23rd.
Historical note
The shrine was originally built in 757 CE during the Asuka period but has undergone several renovations throughout its history.
