建部神社 is a Shinto shrine located in the city of Komagane, Nagano Prefecture. The shrine is dedicated to Minakuchi Hachiman-gu, a deity revered as a patron of the military and a protector of soldiers. Visitor tip
To fully appreciate the shrine's beauty, visit early in the morning to witness the sunrise casting its golden light upon the vermilion torii gate.
Cultural notes
Minakuchi Hachiman-gu is also associated with the myth of Minakuchi no Tsuneharu, a legendary warrior who was said to have been inspired by the deity before entering battle. Locals still celebrate an annual festival in May to honor the deity and pay respects to the local daimyo.
