One no Torii is a historic Shinto shrine located in the city of Joetsu, Niigata Prefecture. The shrine was originally built in 718 as a humble torii gate dedicated to the kami Ryuzu, patron deity of rivers and streams. Over time, the shrine has undergone numerous transformations and renovations while maintaining its traditional architecture. Visitors can see examples of these changes on display at the shrine's museum. Today, One no Torii is an important cultural site and popular tourist destination.

Visitor tip
