Aiōtsu-ji Shrine, located in Kyoto's Kiyamachi-dori, is a historic Shinto shrine dedicated to the god of love and fertility. Built during the Heian period (794-1185 CE), the shrine features a vermilion torii gate, which has been rebuilt multiple times due to fires over the centuries. The current structure dates back to 1862. Visitors can explore the shrine's tranquil gardens, visit the nearby Nishiki Market for fresh seafood and local produce, and enjoy a romantic stroll along the Philosopher's Path.
