Ryukyu-inari Shrine, located in Akita Prefecture, is one of the oldest Shinto shrines dedicated to Inari Okami, the Shinto god of rice and prosperity. Founded during the Heian period (794-1185 CE), the shrine has been rebuilt several times due to damage from natural disasters and wars. Today, it stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of the local community.

Historical note

The original shrine was built in 816 CE, but was destroyed by fire in 1271 CE during the Nanboku-chō period (1336-1392 CE).
