Visitor tip

Cultural notes

Hamamatsu Shrine is associated with the mythical creature 'Manazuru', said to appear on rocks along the coast. Locals believe that Manazuru brings good luck and protection for fishermen.

The shrine was founded in the Edo period (1603-1867), during the rule of Tokugawa Ieyasu.
