Located in the rural town of Kamohata, Ibaraki Prefecture, 鹿島神社 is a small Shinto shrine dedicated to the kami of the island of Tsukui-jima. Cultural notes
Tsukui-jima is said to be the residence of the Tsukui-no-Miya-kami, a kami believed to have control over the sea and fertility. Locals often perform rituals at the shrine during the annual Cherry Blossom Viewing Festival in March-April to ensure a bountiful harvest.

The shrine was rebuilt in 1964 after being destroyed during World War II.
