Visitor tip

Visit during cherry blossom season (late March to early April) to witness the shrine's beautiful autumn foliage and spring blossoms, which attract thousands of visitors each year.

Cultural notes

The shrine is famous for its unique worship of the 'Two Barbarian Spirits' (ni-ara-gami), two mythical figures said to be the protectors of travelers. The shrine also hosts a festival in May, where participants reenact a traditional battle between the Two Barbarians.
