Located in the Ibaraki Prefecture, Eighteen Falls Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the mythological water spirit, Namahage no Kamaji. According to local legend, Namahage no Kamaji was responsible for the formation of the forty-eight falls that give the shrine its name. Visitor tip

The shrine was originally founded in the Heian period (794-1185 CE), making it one of the oldest shrines in Ibaraki Prefecture.
