The Kokeshima Inari Shrine, located in Ibaraki Prefecture, is a lesser-known Shinto shrine dedicated to the god of rice, fertility, and prosperity. The shrine's architecture reflects the local Heian-style, with a vermilion torii gate and a rectangular hall. As one of the oldest shrines in Japan, it has been an important center for agricultural and economic activities.

Visitor tip

Cultural notes

As a shrine dedicated to Inari, the Shinto god of fertility and prosperity, it hosts the annual Fudou Myoo Festival in June. The festival celebrates the arrival of summer with traditional dances, music, and offerings to the kami.
