Dragon's Mouth Shrine, located in the coastal town of Kesennuma in Miyagi Prefecture, is dedicated to the Shinto deity Ryujin, the god of the sea and storms. According to local legend, a giant dragon named Ryujin was said to reside at the shrine's location, where it would emerge from the ocean to bless the town during times of war.

Cultural notes
In addition to Ryujin, the shrine also enshrines the local patron kami, Izumo-tairimusubi-no-kami, who is revered for his role in protecting the town from natural disasters. The shrine's main hall features a striking dragon-shaped roof tile, which is said to symbolize the power of the sea god.
Historical note
The shrine was rebuilt after the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, which heavily damaged the original structure.
