Located in the city of Sakata, Akita Prefecture, the Shirakami-jinja Shrine is a Shinto temple dedicated to the deified spirits of the forest and its inhabitants. The shrine's primary deity, Utsutsu Hachiman, is believed to protect travelers and bring good fortune. The shrine's architecture reflects its historical significance as a stop on the ancient trade route known as the Shinano Road.
