The Daito-ji Shrine, located in Miyagi Prefecture, is a Shinto temple dedicated to the deity Susanoo, often referred to as Hachiman-san. The shrine's history dates back to the Edo period (1603-1868) and was originally built on the site of an ancient temple. Today, visitors can explore the shrine's main hall, which features a vermilion roof and a unique architectural style characteristic of Miyagi Prefecture. Visitor tip

Cultural notes
Daito-ji Shrine is famous for its beautiful cherry blossoms, which bloom in late March and early April. In addition to the main hall, the shrine also features several smaller shrines dedicated to Susanoo, including one located near a nearby stream, said to be his favorite haunt.
Historical note
The shrine was rebuilt after being destroyed by fires in 1611 and 1725.
