Akita

Rikuguni Junrei, a Shinto pilgrimage route originating from Akita Prefecture, passes through the Six Storehouse Shrine in Rikuzen District, Akita City. This shrine is dedicated to the god of agriculture, rice, and fertility, Enma Daiōkannon. Founded during the Nara period (710-794 CE), the shrine has played a significant role in the region's agricultural cycles. Its architecture reflects traditional Tohoku style, with a honden and several smaller shrines. The shrine's design is believed to resemble a storehouse of grains, symbolizing its connection to agriculture.
