Located in the town of Iina, Saitama Prefecture, Tenjin Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the god Susanoo-no-Mikoto and his brother Amaterasu-Ōmikami, the sun goddess. The shrine's name 'Tenjin' refers to a mythical Buddhist sage who was revered in Japan as the patron of education, literature, and arts.

In Iina, Susanoo-no-Mikoto is also revered as a kami of rivers and waterways. The shrine's festival, Tenjin Matsuri, takes place in July to honor the god's role in education and arts.
Historical note
The shrine was originally constructed during the Nara period (710-794 CE), but the current main hall was built in the late Heian period (1185-1192 CE).
