Willow Tree Shrine, located in the city of Akita, is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the worship of the kami Umi no Ikizukami. The shrine's name is derived from the willow tree that grows on its grounds, which are said to have been planted by the legendary Japanese heroine, Hikoboshi. According to local legend, the willow tree was brought to the site by a group of fishermen who were searching for a safe harbor for their boats. The shrine's architecture reflects the traditional style of Japanese Shinto shrines, with a rectangular building covered in red tiles and surrounded by a tranquil garden filled with cherry blossoms and other native trees.
