Located in the city of Hikone, Shiga Prefecture, Eight Horseshoe Shrine is a revered Shinto site dedicated to the storm god Susanoo and his wife, the sun goddess Amaterasu. Visitor tip

Cultural notes
The shrine is closely associated with the legend of Susanoo, who is said to have created a storm that destroyed his brother's rice fields.
