Visitor tip
To experience the full charm of the shrine, visit during cherry blossom season ( late March to early April) and take a stroll along the nearby River Yumura.
Cultural notes
Daikō Shrine is famous for its unique torii gate, which is said to be made from a hollowed-out tree trunk. The shrine also hosts an annual festival, the Daikō Matsuri, in honor of Fukutami no Kami, where visitors can participate in traditional rituals and games.
