Cultural notes
Ishiyasu Shrine is closely tied to the legend of Minamoto no Yoshitsune, a famous samurai from the Kamakura period. According to myth, Yoshitsune was said to have prayed at this shrine before his eventual death. Today, visitors can still see the remains of Yoshitsune's sword, Totsuka no Tsurugi, in the shrine's museum.
